Last season McAvoy was one of the renaissance figures at the Grattan Stadium where he made a solid and triumphant return. Looking back just two years McAvoy’s career was at a cross-roads. He was unwanted by hometown Salford following an unsuccessful second spell after returning from a stint in top level rugby union with crack side Saracens.
Leeds rescued him from obscurity before Brian Noble made McAvoy one of his first signings for Wigan.
Nathan originally signed for Salford from Eccles ARLFC in 1994 and by the time he was 20, McAvoy had was already a first team player and a regular try scorer. He toured with the 1996 Great Britain Academy side as captain before joining Bradford in 1999. Nathan was a Challenge Cup winner with the Bulls in 2000 before his cross code experiment. The centre or wing adds great depth and quality to the Centurions 2008 squad where his top level experience will prove invaluable.
