Paul Ballard is one of two brothers currently active within the game. He is
mainly seen as a winger or fullback and came through the Academy ranks at
Wigan before joining Widnes in 2005. He is renowned for his speed, body
swerve and try-scoring ability.
Unfortunately injury curtailed his appearances for the Cheshire club in
Super League but Ballard still made an impression, scoring two tries against
the Centurions to help the Vikings to a late season 36-20 win.
Unfortunately a shoulder injury required surgery and Ballard was released by
Widnes prior to Steve McCormack's appointment at the Halton Stadium. Leigh
snapped the highly rated youngster up after he joined the Centurions to
build his fitness following recommendation by Julian O'Neill. Upon reaching
fitness he is tipped to push for a first team spot at the Coliseum.
